Starmer arrives at WH for meeting with Trump

United States President Donald Trump is set to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Washington, D.C., next week, according to Trump’s National Security Adviser, Mike Waltz. The announcement, made during a Fox News interview on Wednesday, comes as the U.S. intensifies its efforts to mediate peace between Russia and Ukraine, a process that has raised eyebrows across Europe.

The meetings are expected to address growing concerns over Trump’s approach to the Ukraine crisis. Recent U.S. negotiations with Russian officials in Saudi Arabia excluded Ukrainian and European Union representatives, sparking criticism from allies who fear a peace deal that sidelines Ukraine’s interests. Waltz, however, expressed optimism, stating that there are “good” chances for Russia and Ukraine to reach an agreement.

“We’re engaging on all sides, and the next step is to put technical teams forward to start discussing more details,” Waltz emphasized.

The upcoming talks with Macron and Starmer highlight the delicate balance of U.S. relations with key European allies. France and the UK have been vocal supporters of Ukraine, and both leaders are likely to press Trump on ensuring that any peace deal respects Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The meetings also underscore the importance of transatlantic cooperation at a time of global uncertainty. With the Ukraine crisis entering its third year, the international community is eager for a resolution, but not at the expense of sidelining the voices of those most affected.

As Trump prepares to host Macron and Starmer, the world will be watching closely to see whether these discussions can bridge the gap between U.S. strategy and European expectations. Will this be a step toward lasting peace, or will it further strain U.S.-Europe relations?
