Elon Musk wants to remove the blocking function on Twitter.
Elon Musk’s sweeping attack on Twitter continues. On Friday, the entrepreneur announced the end of the blocking feature on the platform, except for direct messages. Criticism of the move even came from the organization Auschwitz Memorial, which emphasized that it took the right to block neo-Nazis and
“Blocking as a feature will be deleted, except for direct messages,” Musk wrote on Twitter, or X, as the platform is now called. For him, the function “makes no sense,” Musk said. The announcement drew massive criticism. For example, the organization Auschwitz Memorial wrote that Holocaust deniers and neo-Nazis were repeatedly blocked, otherwise they would be exposed to insults and threats.
“Worth keeping this feature”
“In my opinion, it’s definitely worth getting the blocking feature,” Tesla Owners Silicon Valley wrote. Trolls and spammers would otherwise spread. User Mollie even wrote that the blocking feature is “one of the best things about the platform.”
Austria’s chief Twitterer Armin Wolf also wrote: “He really wants to break it.” Without a blocking function, larger accounts can hardly be operated. Musk had made various changes to the online platform in recent months, which were anything but positively received.

Various functions rebuilt
For example, the Tweetdeck application was put behind the paywall, as announced just over a month ago. Users who wanted to access Tweetdeck since Tuesday evening (local time) were redirected to a login page for paid subscriptions. The application is now called X Pro.
Musk had taken over Platform X last year for 44 billion dollars (40.15 billion euros) and initiated a radical restructuring. He dismissed top management and more than two-thirds of the approximately 8000,<> employees. As a result, advertising revenues plummeted. In addition, Musk made profound changes for users, including the introduction of the paid subscription for the verification of accounts.
Most recently, Musk renamed Twitter X at the end of July and gave the platform a new logo. His vision is to transform the platform into a super app based on the Chinese model WeChat, which can also be used to process online purchases and payments.
