PSG were crowned European champions after thrashing Inter Milan in Munich
Desire Doue scored twice while Ousmane Dembele registered two assists
Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembélé (28) has been named the UEFA Champions League Player of the Season, after a remarkable European campaign in which he helped lead PSG to continental glory.
While Dembélé didn’t find the net in PSG’s emphatic win over Inter Milan in the final, he delivered two key assists and produced a performance so influential that head coach Luis Enrique singled him out for the highest praise:
“I would give the Ballon d’Or to Mr. Ousmane Dembélé,” Enrique said. “The way he defended tonight, just that alone could be worth the Ballon d’Or. That’s how you lead a team. Goals, trophies, leadership, defence, his pressing.”
The French international’s season took a dramatic turn after being moved into a more central role, which unlocked his full potential. He finished the Champions League with eight goals, proving instrumental in PSG’s run to the title.
Adding to the Parisian celebration, Desire Doué (19) was named UEFA Men’s Young Player of the Season after an electric performance in the final. The teenager not only assisted Achraf Hakimi’s opener but also scored two goals of his own, delivering a coming-of-age performance under the brightest lights.
In total, seven PSG players were named in UEFA’s Team of the Season, including Donnarumma, Hakimi, Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, along with Dembélé and Doué.
The prestigious lineup also featured Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, whose brilliant campaign included four Champions League goals, with two stunning free-kicks in the quarter-final clash against Real Madrid. His all-action displays were key to Arsenal’s deep run into the competition.
With Dembélé leading the charge and a host of PSG stars earning UEFA recognition, this year’s Champions League spotlight shines brightly on Paris—marking a potential shift in the European football power dynamic.
