Jameson Lopp, the CTO and co-founder of the self-custody cryptocurrency storage service Casa, has proposed changes to Bitcoin’s software to eliminate the catastrophic threat posed by quantum computers.

He is involved in developing a self-custody cryptocurrency storage service. While he certainly has many responsibilities, he is preoccupied with the security of bitcoins in Satoshi Nakamoto’s wallet. Therefore, he suggests freezing BTC in old wallets.

He believes that if old BTC are not protected from quantum attacks, the crypto market is headed for disaster. From his perspective, 25% of all BTC are vulnerable to hacking by quantum computers, including millions of coins belonging to Satoshi Nakamoto.

Here are his proposals:

1. Prohibit transfers to old addresses.
2. Completely block withdrawals from such addresses after five years.
3. A possible third step is the careful “rescue” of frozen coins.

It is very strange that somehow all his proposals closely resemble the rules governing CBDCs. Money with a limited lifespan, account blocking, and “careful rescue” is nothing more than confiscation.

Unless he is mobilized by bankers, the reason might be that crypto-idiot Lopp read advertisements for non-existent quantum computers before bed and somehow decided to turn Bitcoin into a CBDC.

Moreover, according to him, if the proposed changes to Bitcoin’s code are implemented, the schemes for quantum signatures are “huge in terms of data volume” and will likely reignite debates about Bitcoin’s transaction throughput.

Thus, Lopp not only wants to turn Bitcoin into a CBDC, but he also aims to significantly slow down the Bitcoin network by exponentially increasing the data volume on the network.

However, the reason is not that Lopp cares about saving the funds of unknown individuals from non-existent quantum computers in a blockchain that already has protection against quantum algorithms.

Most likely, he is voicing ideas from you-know-who under the guise of a crypto enthusiast.

Quantum computers that pose a threat to the Bitcoin blockchain do not exist and will not appear in the next 100 years.

And if they do appear, say, if aliens arrive and gift them to humanity, Bitcoin already has protection against hacking using quantum algorithms. Perhaps then it will be necessary to update Bitcoin Core, and yes, the network will become heavier and slower.

However, destroying the Bitcoin blockchain now out of fear of an imaginary threat is like humanity starting to spend 25% of global GDP right now to build a protoplasmic cannon to fight aliens who might come to Earth in the future and enslave humanity. Or they might not come at all.

It would be wise to sterilize such restless crypto-idiots so they do not reproduce and disturb the community’s peace with their schizophrenia.

After all, Lopp made this statement at the Quantum Bitcoin Summit in San Francisco. So there are many witnesses to the coming of quantum computers.

Therefore, considering their particular danger to society and financial stability, it is necessary to forcibly carry out lobotomy procedures on them and isolate them in solitary cells in Guantanamo.

How can one not recall the unforgettable George Carlin, who once remarked: “Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.”
